Back from Phuket, Thailand! (:

Phuket presented me with the darker side of tourism and how the society operates on a whole. Vice, prostitution, the apparent lack of feminism, scams, commercialization; hedonistic lifestyles to be precise. It was…saddening and opened my eyes to many lessons and issues that can never be learnt through the mass media or text books per se.

On the flip side of the coin, it was a simple trip made together with the JC clique. For once, it was for leisure instead of it being work related. Cheap beers, overwhelming amount of tomyamsoup, green curry and mango sticky rice to recharge the weary souls. Not to mention the endless haggling, bargain hunting and rows upon rows of counterfeit goods.

Phuket, I’ll be back. (:

This is for the outstanding bunch of people that made a significant difference in my life for the year 2011.

They came from all walks of life and vastly differently backgrounds; old college friends, juniors i never knew existed, peers that promised to bring me out for a breakfast…that never came, companions whom I had the honor of working together to slay monsters and to kill heroes despite our very obvious skills and level differences, a NS buddy who introduced me to the hidden world inside his PSP, comrades that fought side-by-side in the treacherous grounds of zouk-ressic park, an Angel that brought much joy and laughter into my life, a Goddess that had a penchant for the bottle, fellow university classmates that threw caution into the wind when it came to academic work only to find ourselves burning multiple midnight oil to meet deadlines and most importantly, a Neighbour that taught me the importance of humbleness, imparted me the lost art of pangsai-ing and appreciating the beauty of Running.

This is for you people.

Thankyou, for simply being in my life.

Japanese Curry!

After a short hiatus from the kitchen, leexinru is back and cooking once again! (:

(YES, even though he has one last exam paper tomorrow)

He finds cooking therapeutic and nothing beats having a proper homecooked family meal.

Ingredients (Suitable for 5)

5x Fresh Chicken Thighs

2x Onion (diced)

2x Large Potatoes (diced)

1x Pack of Green Peas

1x Golden Curry Mix

Methods

Steam diced potatoes for 10 mins while bringing a pot (2.5x cups) of water to boil.

Why steam the potatoes before hand..?

Personally, this is to speed up the cooking process as more often than not, the potatoes take the longest time to be cooked if added directly into the curry without steaming it prior.

Add diced onions and chicken thighs into a pot of boiling water over low heat.

Let it boil for 10 mins

Add in Curry Mix, diced potatoes and green peas, stirring occasionally to ensure the currymix dissolves completely.

Boil for another 5 minutes and bring it to simmer.

End Product!

At a recent camp assignment I undertook…

Me: “Most importantly, how old do you think I am based on your first impression..?”

Trainer A: “Hmmmm, 27 to 30..?” (in a totally confident and honest tone)

Me: “-_- whaaaaaaaat, guess again!” (getting all depressed by the answer)

Trainer A: “You mean you’re older..? Say Mid 30s..?” (spoken with innocence and curiosity)

Me: “….OUCH…..” (totally dejected)

Talk about having a weather bitten and mature outward appearance eh..?

Self actualization – I have my fair share of supporters and detractors; some people stand by me through thick and thin, some I can never seem to convince to see from my point of view. More often than not, I get more negative comments than constructive ones but heck, I was brought up in the manner of how I saw myself was much more important than how others saw me. Never fancied getting credit, being acknowledged or staying in the limelight. I do what needs to be done and then I fade away into the crowd. 好人？坏人？管你他妈的人。leexinru, you are the master of your own fate, you are the captain of your soul.

Picnic Day! <3

Spent one lazy Wednesday afternoon with the university clique over at Botanic Gardens. No weekend crowds, long queues and jostling. Just a simple picnic amongst friends while soaking up to the peace and tranquility of the surroundings.

I have this pet peeve when it comes to picnics – there must be a rattan basket to complete the whole concept.

Pretty, mouth-watering delights! (:

”Finger Food” redefined. Dont let the plain, ordinary exterior fool you! This is the most expensive item I’ve ever tasted in all my picnics ever. No kidding! Gold powder and white caviar perhaps..? (:

Light, bubbly drinks (i adore Ciennas and Moscatos!) to wash away the day’s fatigue.
